Barb and Mike Byrne are the owners and craftspersons at Heirloom Cradles and Baskets. They do all of the crafting in a workshop-studio on their property.

Each cradle is specially handmade.  Barb does the design and weaving of the cradles. Mike does all of the woodworking functions — cutting and drilling bases, and cutting, sanding, and attaching rockers.

Barb weaves all of the baskets and designs and crafts the gourds.

Barb began weaving baskets in the early 1990s. She took one class in market basket design and she was hooked!

Since then, she has taken classes, attended conventions, taught classes for beginners, and hosted basket retreat weekends. She has experimented with several basket forms and become proficient in many of them.

Barb wove her first baby cradle in 1999 for her first grandchild. It was so well received that she decided to offer her services to others. Check out the styles of baby cradles available.

Expanding into doll cradles seemed natural. Barb weaves several sizes of doll cradles - from miniatures to the larger size. To see all the handwoven cradles available, click on doll cradles.
